U.S. futures edge higher overnight ahead of the Federal Reserve’s interest-rate decision later in the day (2:00 pm et), which is expected to show no change to interest rate policy, but markets will watch for comments about inflation and the outlook of rates in coming months. The Fed is also expected to update their “dot-plot” (the first update to estimates for growth, inflation, unemployment since the April tariff announcements). Meanwhile, investors watching the conflict between Iran and Israel intensify overnight while looking for signs that the US has joined the Middle East conflict. Yesterday, President Trump said, “our patience is wearing thin” and met with his national security team on Tuesday, raising speculation that the US could join Israel’s offensive. Iran has warned it will respond firmly if the US crosses a red line into involvement. Oil prices are pulling back this morning along with gold. Stocks came under pressure Tuesday but continue to hover near record highs, staging a ferocious comeback since their April lows and remain higher on the year so far. In Asian markets, The Nikkei Index rose 348 points to 38,885, the Shanghai Index was up 1 point to 3,388, and the Hang Seng Index dropped -269 points to 23,710. In Europe, the German DAX is down -90 points to 23,343. while the FTSE 100 is flat at 8,833.
